Aleria is a town in the Haute-Corse (Upper Corsica) department of Corsica. It lies along the Costa Serena between Bastia and Porto-Vecchio and was the ancient capital of the island and a major town during Roman times.
Today Aleria is an important tourist destination due to is culture and history. There are lots of Roman ruins to visit including the remains of shops, baths, temples and a forum. Discover the 16th century Fort Mantra and the museum of archeology Jérôme Carcopino. The museum displays many artefacts which have been discovered nearby.
